Looking forward to "A Season of Dreamers"

We have great news: our subscription deadline for the 2011-2012 season has been extended to next Friday, August 19th! Get your orders in now to ensure you reserve the best seats before they go on-sale to the public. Plus, if you're a new subscriber, you save 15%.

That's the good news. On a slightly sadder note, today is my last day with Madison Opera, as I'm going back to school to pursue an MBA in arts administration. My leaving isn't necessarily the sad part, as I know the company and The MadOpera Blog are in great hands. The sad part is that I will not be apart of this new season of operas I love.

Before I go, here's a selection of what I'll be missing, and what you should most definitely not miss.

The final duet from Eugene Onegin is incredibly moving - as you saw at Opera in the Park:

Galileo Galilei has never been recorded, so here's a piano version of one of my all time favorite Philip Glass pieces, his opera Orphee:

Rossini's Cinderella is known for "vocal fireworks" - a phrase we've been tossing around quite a bit. It's not an exaggeration:

Thanks for reading, it has been a pleasure!

Lovely links. And congrats on the new job, Brian! You'll be missed, for sure. Best of luck in the future!

Great Schwanengesang, Brian! And good programming this year.

Forgive me as this piece makes me wax sentimental, but the piece from Orphee brings me straight back to summer 2007--what a great time we had at Glimmerglass. I really loved working with everyone then and so proud of the fantastic places everyone has gone since! I am so happy you will be continuing in our wonderful field and wish you the best at the Bolz Center.
